Hello,

I am a Canadian living in Finnish Lapland and I just bought one of these LA82B 14.10.1961, 31000km. I have to say I love to drive that truck, but my wallet doesn't like to feed it.

I am planing to install 13R22.5 all around, hoping it will lower the fuel consumption and save the original tires for shows and restoration.

I am now planing to install an old HIAB FOCO 303 in the back and a flat bed. Tomorrow, I might even have a new source for parts, but I don't speak swedish :(

On all the 13 or 14 I have seen all of them had problem with the steering pump hoses leaking. Then the head gasket need to be changed most of the time if they have been sitting for a long time. Other than that I can't find anything wrong. Only 2 of them were slightly dirty in the valve cover.

Many of those will go to Africa and probably disappear, about the other half sold to companies to continue their hard work. Very few goes in the hand of restorer.

http://www.myrsloken.eu/ I have found some of these trucks up north in norbotten. For example the 175315. Is this site from anyone here ?

Check my gallery for some pictures.

Hi and welcome to this site, maybe you should buy a bigger wallet? :-)

Isn’t no problem with the bigger wheels (fenders and so on)?

Its seems bee very strength if the steering pump should be a unique special military version, in case of spare parts.

What is your link (URL) to your home site?

Sincerely Anders

Good morning.

The steering pump return pipe uses metric pipe thread 26mm diameter. So it is needing a little bit more work to find the exact parts. I have now cuted the crush sleeves so that I can save the ends. But I will change the hydrolic hose adapter to something more common, so I will have both possibilities. I will take photos.

13R22.5 is fitting quite well on 22.5x8.5" rims. There is still a lot of space in the fenders.

About your pump pipes, Isn’t that a simple question for a mechanical workshop to fix that?

About the fuel consumption, this special truck made for terrain may have a transmission made for it, and its means "high" engine RPM combined with a low speed. I could see on pics, there was a lot of space under the fenders so bigger wheels can be one solution, to change the transmission seems more complicated.

I’m locked on your URL and that was nice with all original parts.

/Anders

The problem is that here there is no adapter for hose to pump and hose to reserve, I tried all the local shops. Both have a male 26mm diam & 1.5mm thread. The hose side is male 30mm diam & 1.5mm thread.

If I could find something going from male 26mm diam & 1.5mm thread to anything common here I would be very happy. For now I am thinking to build this out of a metal pipe and tap the thread in the pipe itself. Anyway, if anyone see one of those in Sweden or Norway, I'd be very happy to buy some.

I just want to make it hard for anyone to know I changed anything, and I don't like if the original parts don't fit.

I have now taken some pictures of the problematic part with some explanation:

http://www.tchiwam.net/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=18162

26mm side is the one to keep, 30mm side can be changed to what ever.

Hi Philip and congratulasions to that nice piece of steel!

I am used to have it all from Finland no matter how special things appear to be. I use the local workshop of Nuorgam, Sami Mootori OY. Of course they don't have it all but orders from Rovaniemi. And to my knowledge of the size of city of Sodankylä it may be a good move to check Rovaniemi first. Hope it work out well anyway.

Best Regards Arnfinn

@Anders now I have to wipe my keyboard :/ too much drooling.

@arnfinn I have checked with HIFlex Finland, they claim it doesn't exist, well my M10x1.25 10.9 didn't exist either till I say I can buy more than 1. I am relatively new at this so finding the parts is always a bit harder.

Klas, thank you a lot for the email. This is helping a lot !
