Experimental Fordson Thames

This Fordson Thames was an experiment, it was on work trials with Silcock & Collins delivering new Ford cars from the factory to the Ford garages. It was used as a test truck for the Thames Trader.

Did Fordson make trucks aswell as tractors? :shock:

I guess what you see on the picture is actually a tractor (this is the expression in American English at least – maybe not so in British English), isn’t it??.
Well, I think Stellan really meant a Fordson farm tractor, like e.g. a Fordson Major.

Anyway, Fordson lorries and vans were sold in few numbers also in Sweden during the 1930:s and 1940:s, and here is one example for instance.

A model I cannot identify but it is made in 1932 at least. And I happen to know the owner.

Otherwise I think most of the Fordson lorries sold in Sweden were smaller sized vehicles e.g. type B1 Bulldog, up to around two tons loading capacity.


Det är väl en “tractor” som syns på bilden (dragbil = tractor på Engelska) även om jag tror att Stellan egentligen avsåg en Fordson jordbrukstraktor, t.ex. Fordson Major.

Fordson lastbilar har i alla fall marknadsförts i Sverige under 1930-40-talet.
Här är t.ex. ett exempel från 1932 men jag vet inte modellbeteckningen trots att jag känner ägaren.

För övrigt tror jag att de flesta Fordson-lastbilarna som såldes i Sverige var mindre bilar typ B1 Bulldog upp till ungefär 2 tons max.last.
