För att klara uppkörningen på trailern gällde det att "stå på" ordentligt men också att slå av på gasen i rätt ögonblick när vagnen kom upp och vägde över.

Samma principen gällde när man lastade bandtraktorer både på kärrorna och släpen. Kärrorna var lite extra lömska då de "tippade över" när man kom upp på dem. Höll man inte hårt på bromsen så var det lätt att bandtraktorn hoppade över på lastbilen.

Jo, det kunde vara farligt särskilt om banden var leriga för då kunde S-vagnen halka av uppfartsramperna och välta. Man skulle "ha känsla" för att det inte hände men samtidigt var det ju svårt att ha någom "fix-punkt" när man bara såg himmel. Dessbättre hände aldrig någon sådan incident vid de tillfällen jag var med.

I´m just looking trough all this, and I found something Interesting.
Did you find any Diff´. with 1:4,93 ????

I was lucky a few years ago, I did get one of only 30 pieces built by Scania , LT 110S 42A given to the Army in Dec . 1969, that is also the date of "birth "to my Scania. Plus , one LT 76, as Prototyp.

It has got a 1800- Bege-Hytt, 2 Hägglund Winches with each 20 tons, Antal passagere 6, Tjängstevikt total 13,5 to, 275 HK, etc.

I do know there is 1 maybe 2 komplete left in Sweden, 1 was taken in peaces where the Chassis is still alive, there´s mine here in germany, and there might be 2 or 3 left in Holland and Belgium. The rest of the are sold to black afrika or other states on that big continent down there. ( that makes to me 5 to 7 peaces left )
I didn´t take the Trailer with me, I´d liked too, but I do know that the police would have something against that Idea, so I left that Trailer back in Sweden (- 3,40m wide-). But no Problem the guy who took that Scania in peaces has one still in the back yard.

But now I´d like to ask if you did find two Diff ´s with 1:4,93 ??? or if that is out of the way ???
I changed allready to 1:5,97, but that is not that what I really wanted . I´m still looking for a better chance. Those original 1:6,89, I took out are still in my Hand´s , but if there is a possibility to find something nice ???
Last time it took me up halfway to the northpol in Norway to find something and allso get it.

I haven't found those 4.97:1 gear set yet, but I am still digging more information from all around, I have put my hands on the EPC, I hope that one covers the older trucks too. Once I have that I will compare the gears and carriers from all those years.

Could you check if you have the center diff on your boggy ? The LA82 doesn't have it.

I am also looking to know if I can fit the gears from the LS75/76/111 into a RD82 diff carrier. They look like they can fit, but I want to wait for the EPC before spending big money. The next problem I have is the front differential of the LA82, which I think is a simple R82 differential. Problem is I never looked if the drive shafts of the front and rear are spinning in the same direction or opposite direction. If it turns the opposite way then the chance of finding 4.97:1 for the front axle is very slim, or would need to make a custom set. Or Scania simply flipped the carrier upside down and used the same gear to same money...

From this picture I cannot see an idler gear between the rear output and front output of the T case. My truck is in the south and I am in the north, I will see my truck again in March So if someone want to help drive the truck and see if the shaft from the front and rear turn the same way or opposite.



The LT76 had 4.97 available, so the only thing needed is to buy the gears



One more possibility I have been thinking is to fit an Overdrive only on the back axles, this has nearly all the benefits except taking space for an extra gear box. And if you need 6x6 then you don't need lower gearing

Hi Philippe, this is getting interesting.

If Have two question, did you allready thing about the front axle , to put on the outer side of the driveshafts, some kind of free running Nub, like you can buy to any normal Od 4x4, like a Land Rover ??. So if you don´t need the 6x6 , that you are only going on the back axles, ?? I did never had the chance to have a look under neeth an LA 82, but I would say that should be Possible. Did you check on that allready ?

The other thing, as I can see the picture from the Gearbox Book, the front and Back axle are complete mounted to this Gearbox with a Kardan-shaft ??? So there is no extra gearbox , is that korrekt ?
And how much distance inbetween the gearbox and the back axle is there - how long ist that kardan-shaft???

I might have something in mind that could help you.

I have a kamerad who works a lot with ZF Gearboxes, he own´s an old 4x4 HANOMAG of the armee. He put free running nub´s on the front axle . He also found an Overdrive , that he put inbetween the gearbox and Back axle. And, DONE.that´s it !
The front axle is without funktion, if he need´s it no problem, and he´s also good in long distance, without big trouble.
And if that doesn´t help at all, there´s another chance to make your scania in good running order.
If you find out about the front axle, and the disstance between Gearbox and Bakaxle, maybe we will find something for you and you don´t need the gearing from 4,93:1 !!

On Page 2, of this whole discusion, there is the korrekt picture and explanation of the bak axle RD 82. That is the axle of LT75 and 76, with the differential put in from the top. - By Per Thomsen -

Hej, jag har två st. Scania LT110S42 levererade från Scania 9/9 1969 resp. 16/9 1969. Den första till militären,
Dragbil 8511, med bakaxelväxel RD82. Den andra civil med bakaxelväxel RB651. Så tydligen fortsatte man att tillverka båda bakaxelväxlarna åtminstone 1969 ut. 8511:an har en totalvikt på 34560kg och en av mina LT76:or har en totalvikt på 27000kg. Så RD82 bakaxlarna verkar ju vara byggda för rejäla vikter. LA82 har väl samma bakaxlar, men bara enkelram istället för dubbelram som LT76:an och LT110:an. Eller skall man säga dubbel och trippel kanske.
Och så en fråga till Per Thomson. Hade du en broschyr gällande Scania-Vabis LT76? I så fall är jag väldigt intresserad att få ta del av den på ngt. sätt.
